The winter session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe kicked off on January 27.
The delegation led by head of the permanent delegation of Milli Majlis to PACE, chairman of the International Relations and Inter-parliamentary Affairs Committee Samad Seyidov is taking part in the session. MPs Sevinj Fataliyeva, Sahiba Gafarova, Rafael Huseynov, Asim Mollazade, Sabir Hajiyev and Nagif Hamzayev are also represented in the delegation.
First, the new president of PACE has been elected. Thus, Belgian senator Hendrik Daems has been elected the new president of PACE.
Within the framework of the winter session, the Moldovan and Georgian presidents, as well as the Foreign Minister of Georgia, the chairman and Secretary General of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, are going to deliver a speech.
“The latest developments in Libya and the Middle East: What kind of results of Europe?” and “Migration and Brexit’s results” will be discussed at the session.
The parliamentarians will discuss the threats to media freedom and security of journalists, as well as protection of religious freedom in workplaces.
Azerbaijani MPs will participate in discussions and express attitude towards the topics on the agenda.
Within the framework of the session, on January 28, an event dedicated to the 30th anniversary of January 20 Tragedy will be organized by the Azerbaijani delegation.
It is noteworthy that the session will last until January 31.
