Azerbaijan Television has released the rare archival footages about great poet and playwright Huseyn Javid on the 80th anniversary of his death.

According to AzTV's Social Media and PR Department, the video published on the TV channel's newly created "AzTV History" YouTube channel demonstrates how the coffin of Huseyn Javid was brought to Azerbaijan.

The footages date back to 1982.

National leader Heydar Aliyev could achieve that the grave of Huseyn Javid in Irkutsk was discovered, and his remains were brought to Azerbaijan on October 26, 1982.

The footages show the farewell ceremony with H. Javid. It is seen from the footages that hundreds of people attended the farewell ceremony with the great poet.

The archival footages also demonstrate how national leader Heydar Aliyev participated in the farewell ceremony and had a conversation with Huseyn Javid's daughter Turan Javid.

It is noteworthy that Huseyn Javid was born in Nakhchivan on October 24, 1882.

He was slandered in 1938 and arrested. On June 9, 1939, he was sentenced to 8 years of labor camp. In 1941, he died in Irkutsk province's Tayshet region. He was buried at the cemetery in Shevchenko village in grave No 59. Although he was exonerated in 1956, it was not possible to bring his coffin to Azerbaijan.

In 1982, at the instruction of national leader Heydar Aliyev, it was decided to find Huseyn Javid's grave and bring his coffin to Azerbaijan. After the long search, his grave was discovered. His coffin was brought to Baku on October 26, 1982. The farewell ceremony with Huseyn Javid was held. Afterwards, the coffin was sent to Nakhchivan. On November 3, 1982, he was laid to rest in front of the house he grew up in.
