76 criminal cases have been launched at the Prosecutor General's Office in connection with the crimes committed against the Azerbaijanis in the Patriotic War. 39 of them are connected with the crimes committed against civilians. 24 Armenians have been put on the international wanted list because of the crimes committed against the Azerbaijanis in the Second Karabakh War, Prosecutor General Kamran Aliyev has told journalists.
According to him, nearly 300 Armenian citizens have been put on the wanted list in connection with the crimes committed against the Azerbaijani servicemen in the First Karabakh War and during the ceasefire. Works are underway in order to bring them to justice.
Kamran Aliyev has noted that works are carried out in 2 directions: "The first direction is putting those people on the international wanted list. The second direction is bringing Armenian high-ranking officials to justice and achieving the payment of the compensation."
After the Patriotic War, the bodies of about 150 people, who went missing in the First Karabakh War, have been discovered. Works are also underway to identify the fate of those who went missing both in the Patriotic War and in the first Karabakh battles.
"The number of people, who went missing in the First Karabakh War, is nearly 4, 000 people. The number of missing people in the Second Karabakh War is 7. Recently, another body has been found in the battle areas. Currently, the identification works are in progress. A DNA sample has been taken from the body. Most likely, the number of missing people will reduce to 6. Our cooperation is underway with the relevant institutions in connection with this," the Prosecutor General has highlighted.
K.Aliyev has also added that some time ago, the meeting between the Azerbaijani, Russian and Armenian Prosecutor Generals was held in Kazakhstan's capital Nur-Sultan city at the initiative of Russia. At the meeting, some agreements were reached in connection with ensuring the regional stability and reducing tension.
