The transitioning of AzTV, Idman TV and Mədəniyyət TV to the HD format is a historical event for "Azerbaijan Television and Radio Broadcasting" CJSC.
Experts have shared their opinions in connection with the transitioning of the three channels operating under the CJSC to the HD format.
Director of the "Multimedia" Information Systems Technologies Center Osman Gunduz has noted that AzTV's transitioning to the HD format is a significant issue: "First of all, while watching the channel, the quality was not satisfactory enough. The TV channel's new leadership has made this issue relevant, and as a result, the quality is much better now.
However, all equipment should meet HD requirements. Server rooms, central apparatus and equipment in internal rooms are not enough for the HD broadcasting. For this reason, cameramen, vehicles, drones are necessary. Even a helicopter is needed.
Despite the fact that earlier, finances were also allocated, necessary steps for quality broadcasting were not taken.
It is commendable that the new leadership of AzTV pays attention to this kind of technical issues and broadcasting meeting modern standards."
Chairman of Azerbaijan Journalists Union Elchin Shikhli has underlined that AzTV's transitioning to the HD format is the responsibility of the TV channel's new administration: "As far as I know, this transitioning should have taken place in 2020, but due to the unprofessionalism of Azerbaijan Television's previous leadership, this work fell on the shoulders of the new leadership. Therefore, it was late, but the new administration could solve this problem. We should not be satisfied with just the transitioning to the HD format, we should keep up with new technologies. All these works are carried out step by step."
Honorable journalist, telecritic Gulu Maharramli has highlighted that all TV channels should have transitioned to the HD broadcasting by 2020, and AzTV is late on this issue: "Transitioning to the HD format is a serious technological event for AzTV. However, the question arises, "Why does No 1 TV channel of the country transition to HD so late? According to the state program, TV channels should have transitioned to the HD broadcasting by 2020. Other channels could handle this issue, but why has AzTV remained behind, even though the state allocated a lot of funds for providing this TV channel with new technological equipment?"
Dean of the Journalism Faculty of Baku State University Vugar Zifaroghlu has evaluated the transitioning of Azerbaijan Television, Idman TV and Mədəniyyət TV to the HD format as a new stage in the national television history: "It will play its role in the quality of Azerbaijan Television's programs. This is a big achievement, step and progress."
