April 2, 1993 has gone down in history as one of our tragic, languishing days. That day, the Armenians occupied Azerbaijan's historical territory, one of our largest regions Kalbajar, murdered numerous innocent Azerbaijanis, cruelly expelled them from their ancestral lands. We had many casualties, martyrs on this path. We all were longing for the land for 27 years. We never lost our hope, belief for returning to Kalbajar. We were looking for the day Kalbajar would be liberated from the enemy.
That day arrived, and on November 25, 2020, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief gave us that news: "Kalbajar region has been liberated from occupation. On this occasion, I cordially congratulate the Azerbaijani people. Dear Kalbajar residents, congratulations! Your native region has been liberated from occupation."
Azerbaijan has written glorious history by putting an end to the 30-year occupation during the 44-day war. Due to our army's great victory, President Ilham Aliyev's determination, his strong state strategy, we could return Kalbajar without a battle, casualties.
"We will restore Kalbajar, nobody should doubt it, and life will return there. Agriculture, especially cattle breeding, will develop in Kalbajar. We have large pastures there. Kalbajar has rich natural resources. The enemy has brutally exploited these reserves. Istisu water famous in the Soviet Union was produced in Kalbajar. Now, Istisu is returning to our control. Earlier, there was a big resort there. The enemy has destroyed everything," the head of state noted.
Now, like the other regions liberated from occupation, Kalbajar is also breathing. The head of state has given relevant instructions in connection with the revival of these regions. The infrastructure projects connected with Kalbajar have begun to be implemented; a new road is being paved to the region.
