Azerbaijani President receives First Vice President of European Commission, high representative of EU for foreign affairs and security policy

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received the delegation led by First Vice President of the European Commission, high representative of the European Union for foreign affairs and security policy Catherine Ashton.

The Head of State said there was multifaceted cooperation between Azerbaijan and the European Union, adding relations between the country and the Union were developing successfully.

The Azerbaijani leader recalled a meeting with Catherine Ashton in Warsaw.

The President stressed the importance of Ashton`s visit to the region and Azerbaijan.

The Head of State underscored Catherine Ashton`s visit to Azerbaijan would contribute to developing relationship between the country and European Union even more.

The First Vice President of the European Commission, high representative of the European Union for foreign affairs and security policy expressed satisfaction with her visit to Azerbaijan

During the meeting, they discussed prospects for energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and European Union.

They also exchanged views on the ways of settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
