Baku hosted 1st meeting of TURKPA Commission of International Relations

The 1st meeting of the Commission of International Relations of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic-Speaking Countries took place in Baku. The main aspects and perspectives of the international relations of the assembly were discussed at the meeting. The participants of the 1st meeting of the International Relations Commission of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Turkic-Speaking Countries visited the Alley of Honors to commemorate National Leader Heydar Aliyev. Renowned ophthalmologist, Academician Zarifa Aliyeva’s memory was also honored. Further, the guests visited the Alley of Martyrs to pay tribute to those who died for the country’s independence… Making a keynote speech Chairman of the Commission Ahliman Amiraslan said that last year the commission had made important steps to develop international relations of the Assembly. Welcoming the guests on behalf of the Azerbaijani Parliament Vice-Speaker of the Milli Mejlis Ziyafat Asgarov highlighted the effectiveness and prospects of the political, humanitarian and economic cooperation between member countries for the whole world. Secretary General of the Assembly Ramil Hasanov speaking of the Assembly’s representation at the international organizations stated that TurkPA applied for observation mission status at the UN. This issue has already been included in the agenda of the organization. Further, Chairman of the Commission Ahliman Amiraslanov presented his report on “Main Aspects and Perspectives of TurkPa’s International Cooperation”. The report included the works done at international level, perspectives as well as the measures to be realized for broadening of international cooperation and other issues. Kazakh MP Valihan Konurbayev, Turkish MP Ulker Guzel, Azerbaijani MPs Ilham Aliyev and Sadagat Valiyev and others spoke of various directions of expansion of international relations and the organization’s significant role in resolution of global challenges. The member countries must realize necessary measures to protect their common language, culture and values. After the discussions, the report was approved. Turkish Parliamentarian Ulker Guzel was appointed the reporter for the 3rd plenary session of the Assembly due in Bishkek next year. The draft proposal on various aspects of the cooperation was also approved. According to the procedure, the 2nd meting of the commission will be held in Kazakhstan next year. The agenda of the meeting was approved.
