Azerbaijan-Austria business forum started

Azerbaijan-Austria business forum started in Baku. The forum co-organized by the Azerbaijan Economic Development Ministry, Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Fund and Austria-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce was attended by 70 businessmen from Austria and over 100 from Azerbaijan. 28 documents including 6 intergovernmental agreements have been signed between Azerbaijan and Austria up today. Co-Chairman of Azerbaijan-Austria Intergovernmental Commission, Azerbaijani Communication and Information Technologies Minister Ali Abbassov said that these documents would contribute to broadening of cooperation. Deputy Economic Development Minister Niyazi Safarov gave information of Azerbaijan’s recent economic achievements. According to him, favorable investment environment in Azerbaijan attract foreign businessmen to Azerbaijan. Deputy Mayor of Vienne Renate Browner spoke about development perspectives of the existing cooperation in various fields of economy as well as in the areas of tourism, culture and ICT. “We pay special attention to the project on launching of Azerbaijan’s national satellite. It’s very important project” said Austrian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Silvia Mayer-Kaybic and highlighted Azerbaijan’s progress in ICT sector. As part of the Austrian delegation’s visit 3 memorandums will be signed on cooperation in cultural, educational and tourism spheres. Austria intends to take part in several joint projects with Azerbaijan in ICT field including launching of artificial communication satellite, etc. “Application of e-government is of great importance for us. Last year, trade turnover between the 2 countries made up 150 million USD. The volume of import from Austria grew by 74%. On September 19th, Baku Office of Austria-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce was officially opened. Executive Director of the Chamber Tural Baghirzadeh said that opening of Baku Office of Austria-Azerbaijan Chamber of Commerce targets enhancement of cultural, economic and humanitarian relations between Azerbaijan and Austria. President of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Fund Adil Mammadov made a presentation on investment and export potential of Azerbaijan, the Fund’s activity and projects. The event went on with meetings between businessmen where cooperation perspectives were discussed.
