Protection of cultural wealth during armed conflicts discussed
An international training on “Protection of Cultural Wealth during Armed Conflicts” was organized at the State Museum of Azerbaijani Carpet and Applied Art. Representatives of state bodies and international organizations joined the event. During the event co-organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, International Committee of the Red Cross and Azerbaijani National Committee of the International Council of Museums, discussions focused on the issues regarding protection of cultural wealth during armed conflicts. Head of Cultural Policy Department at the Culture and Tourism Ministry Fikrat Babayev underlined importance of protection of historical monuments which is in the center of attention in Azerbaijan. Then, representative of International Committee of the Red Cross Maria Teresa spoke of future perspectives of protection of world cultural heritage. Director of the State Museum of Azerbaijani Carpet and Applied Art Roya Taghiyeva also stressed the panhuman importance of cultural monuments. “Each nation must protect its cultural wealth and show respect to the culture of other nations especially during armed conflicts” Roya Taghiyeva said.
