Azerbaijan`s President participates in official parade dedicated to 150th anniversary of unification of Italy and Republic Day

On June 2nd, a military parade was organized in Rome to mark 150 years of unity of Italy and the Republic Day. President Ilham Aliyev joined the celebrations. On June 2nd, on the invitation of President of the Republic of Italy Giorgio Napolitano, President Ilham Aliyev joined the military parade in Rome to mark 150 years of unity of Italy and the Republic Day. Delegations from more than 80 countries of the world arrived in the Italian capital to participate in the celebrations. Holding of the ceremony on June 2nd stems from abolishment of monarchy and declaration of Italy a republic through a referendum 65 years ago on June 2nd, 1946. The center of celebration in Rome is the Imperial Fora. These public squares connect Roma’s famous Venice Avenue to the Coliseum. This time, too, this square became the center of the celebrations. A solemn parade was organized here. The Italian government also invited to join the parade representatives of various nations that took a part in union of Italy 150 years ago and military men of the ally countries. Over 5 thousand servicemen marched in parade. Azerbaijan Armed Forces personnel also marched past.  The parade culminated in an air show.   On the same day, in the evening, a concert program was arranged in honor of the heads of the delegations “Kurinale” palace in Rome. Afterwards, President of Italy Giorgio Napolitano hosted an official reception in honor of the heads of the delegations. President Ilham joined the reception.
