President of the Czech Republic Vatslav Klaus has been to the Alley of Honor and Alley of Martyrs, had a business lunch with Prime Minister Arthur Rasizadeh and met Speaker of Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov

Within the frame of his official visit to Azerbaijan, President of the Czech Republic Vatslav Klaus has been to the Alley of Honor and Alley of Martyrs, had a business lunch with Prime Minister Arthur Rasizadeh and met Speaker of Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov.

As part of his official visit to Azerbaijan President of the Czech Republic Václav Klaus arrived at the Alley to Honor to put a wreath at the tomb of National Leader Heydar Aliyev and to pay tribute to his memory. The guest of honor also commemorated renowned ophthalmologist, Academician Zarifa Aliyeva. The Czech President then visited the Alley of Martyrs where lie those who fell for Azerbaijan’s freedom and territorial integrity and laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame monument. The state anthems of both countries were performed. Then, President of Czech Republic Václav Klaus enjoyed the view of Baku.

During the conversation between Prime Minister Arthur Rasizadeh and President of the Czech Republic Václav Klaus, an exchange of views was made on the relations between Azerbaijan and Czechia as well as the prospects for economic cooperation.

Within the framework of his visit to Azerbaijan, President of the Czech Republic Václav Klaus arrived at the Milli Majlis, the Parliament of Azerbaijan. The Czech President first got acquainted with the parliament-chamber and highly assessed the working conditions created for the activity of lawmakers. Further, President Václav Klaus familiarized himself with the Heydar Aliyev memorial hall in the parliament. The President left notes in the memorial book of the parliament. A meeting with the Czech delegation was held afterwards. Speaker of the Milli Majlis Ogtay Asadov, praising the relations exiting between the two countries, said that reciprocal visits by heads of state were a good contribution to development of the relations. Highlighting the special role of the parliaments, and the friendship groups in the legislative bodies, he praised the cooperation of our parliamentarians at international institutions. Touching on the Daglig Garabagh conflict, Speaker Ogtay Asadov said that Azerbaijan was committed to peaceful solution of the problem within international legal norms and principles, while Armenia did not want to quit its aggressive policy. Czech President Václav Klaus, expressing pleasure of his being in Azerbaijan, said he, as a former MP, was pleased to be in the Milli Majlis. The distinguished guest said his country was interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan. Stressing that Czechia was one of the countries supporting the Eastern Partnership initiative also joined by Azerbaijan, he said another summit in this regard would be held in Warsaw this autumn. The guest of honor wished good luck to future activity of the parliament.
