US Ambassador meets Peace Corps volunteers in Azerbaijan

50 years pass since the establishment of the International Peace Corps volunteers of which are in action in Azerbaijan as well. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the US to Azerbaijan Mathew Bryza got acquainted with activity of the volunteers as part of his visit to western regions of the country. Mathew Bryza’s visit to western regions started from Dashkasan where he met with Head of the region’s Executive Power Ahad Abiyev. The diplomat was in detail informed about economic potential of the region. The Ambassador was admired by fascinating beauty of the Dashkasan. He was deeply impressed by the visit to Azerbaijan’s regions. Though he many times visited Azerbaijan over 14 years, but could never imagine the beauty of these mountains. The Ambassador once more witnessed warm attitude and hospitality and thus decided again to tour these places. Visiting the Heydar Aliyev Museum, Mathew Bryza left notes in the guest book. Further, the US Ambassador showed interest in the activity of the Volunteer Corps marking it 50th anniversary. Then he has been to the house of a volunteer of the corps teaching English Joseph Castelano who expressed satisfaction with the conditions created. The US Ambassador has also been to Ganja city where he visited SOS Children’s Village. The diplomat got closely acquainted with employment of mothers as well as living conditions of families. Mathew Bryza also visited Ganja Training Center and National Library and it made pleasant impressions on him. The US Ambassador also met with Head of Ganja Executive Power Elmar Valiyev.
