Opening of an exhibition “Art Pearls” took place at the Museum of Modern Art. Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva joined the exhibition featuring historical collection of Van Cleef and Arpels and Azerbaijani artist Aliyar Alimirzayev’s works. The exhibition was also attended by President of the House of Van Cleef and Arpels Stanislas de Kersiz, Director of Louvre Museum Henri Loyrette and world-famous actress Catherine Deneuve.Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva arrived at the Museum of Modern Art to join the exhibition “Art Pearls” featuring historical collection of Van Cleef and Arpels and Azerbaijani artist Aliyar Alimirzayev’s works….When seeing the exhibition, renowned French actress Catherine Deneuve informed Mehriban Aliyeva that Asia and East were one of the most favorite subjects for “Van Cleef & Arpels”. Architecture, fine and decorative art of those cultures had an impact on the Jewelry House.  The history of Van Cleef & Arpels is as dazzling as its creations. From its auspicious beginnings in an elegant mansion on the Place Vendôme in 1906 to the jewelry adorning stars and dignitaries, the House has always been a symbol of luxurious refinement, expressed in sophisticated, innovative designs. Beauty of nature has been a source of inspiration for “Van Cleef & Arpels” since 1920. Endless miracles of nature remain one of the most favorite themes for the House. Each new collection of the Jewelry House reflects flora and fauna. Being a Parisian House “Van Cleef & Arpels” has close ties with fashion world. It’s not by chance, as the French capital is considered as the center for high fashion. Since the very first day of establishment of the Jewelry House the brand was in search of perfection and tried to dramatize beauty of precious stones. Invention of the legendary invisible setting in 1933 was another step in this direction. Nowadays, as well this setting remains pride of the brand. After acquaintance with the “Van Cleef & Arpels” jewelry, Azerbaijan’s First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva was introduced to works by artist Aliyar Alimirzeyev. The artist’s compositions are as paradoxical as a dream, and add some melancholy to vividness of his unexpected, bright, dim colors. This mysterious expressionism reminds an Oriental fairy tale. His paintings express a connection with the history of “Van Cleef & Arpels”. In 2004 Aliyar Alimirzeyev won Grand Prix at “Grands et Jeunes” International Exhibition in Paris. The artist’s works are displayed in Moscow, Paris, Washington, Copenhagen, Seoul, Beijing, Istanbul, and Berlin and are a part of private collections in various countries. In a word, works showcased at the exhibition are pieces of art combining real nobleness and luxury.
