Al Jazirah newspaper publishes article commemorating national leader Heydar Aliyev

Saudi-Arabia based Al Jazirah newspaper has published an article commemorating the Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev.

Headlined "14 years have passed since the death of the founder of modern Azerbaijan", the article draws the audience's attention to national leader Heydar Aliyev's multifaceted state activity.

The article says that national leader Heydar Aliyev's return to political leadership marked a turning point in Azerbaijan`s life. "Heydar Aliyev rescued Azerbaijan from political and economic crisis and determined the future development strategy".

The article notes that national leader Heydar Aliyev visited Saudi Arabia in 1994 and performed Umrah pilgrimage in Kaaba as part of his visit. "During the visit, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Fahd resolutely condemned Armenia's aggression against Azerbaijan. An agreement on cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, investment, technology, culture, youth and sports was signed between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia during that visit," the article says.

"Azerbaijan, founded by Heydar Aliyev, who died in his 80s in 2003, has become one of the most powerful countries among the former Soviet republics," the article adds.
