Amendments to be made to Criminal Code

Annexes and amendments are to be made to the Criminal Code and the Code on Execution of Punishments of Azerbaijan. The draft laws have been discussed at the meeting of the Milli Mejlis Committee on Legal Policy and State Building. According to the suggested draft, 59 amendments will be made to the Criminal Code that will cover 101 articles in general. Custodial restraint will be excluded from the Criminal Code and it will be substituted with a fine. Committee Head Ali Huseynli and other MPs considered the amendments necessary as the punishment didn’t justified itself. 5 articles of the Criminal Code will be redrafted, sanction of 3 articles will be amended and 2 articles will be annexed. Relevant changes will be made to the Code on Execution of Punishments. MPs also made proposals on additional annexes and amendments to the Criminal Code in the future as well. Further, the draft laws have been submitted to consideration of the parliament.
