The sooner the Daglig Garabag conflict is settled, the better it will be for both parties. Chairman of France-Caucasus friendship group of the French Senate, Senator Ambroise Dupont said this while disclosing his attitude towards killing of 9 year old Azerbaijani boy Fariz Badalov by a sniper. The senator expressing expressed sympathy over the incident condemned the fact The delegation led by Chairman of France-Caucasus friendship group of the French Senate, Senator Ambroise Dupont commemorated Great Leader Heydar Aliyev visiting his tomb at the Alley of Honor. The outstanding ophthalmologist, Academician Zarifa Aliyeva’s memory was also honored. Further, the guests visited the graves of those who died for the country’s independence at the Alley of Martyrs. Ambroise Dupont says he visits Azerbaijan to keep on friendship relations and cooperation. Azerbaijan is a friendly country for him and he is satisfied with current relations between the 2 countries. Mr. Dupont thinks that the French school opened in Baku on the initiative of Azerbaijan’s first lady will serve to development of the existing relations and attract more French companies to Azerbaijan. As to the settlement of the Daglig Garabag conflict, France makes efforts in this direction as co-chair of the OSCE Minsk group. The French Senate is also ready to render support to the process. He hopes more progress will be achieved this year. During the meeting with Speaker of the Milli Mejlis discussions mainly focused on bilateral relations. Ogtay Asadov highlighted the role of reciprocal visits and interparliamentary relations in enhancement of the ties and highly appreciated the activity of friendship groups of the parliaments. Touching on the Daglig Garabag conflict, the Speaker expressed hope for France to intensify its efforts on regulation of the problem. Ambroise Dupont said he had eye-witnessed great changes in Azerbaijan since his last visit in 2007. He highly appraised Azerbaijan’s position in the South Caucasus. Mr. Dupont expressed satisfaction with first lady Mehriban Aliyeva’s being elected the Chairperson of Azerbaijan-France friendship group and hopes this will give an impulse to further strengthening of the relations. Afterwards, the delegation met with members of the Milli Mejlis Committee on International Affairs and Interparliamentary Relations. Head of the Committee Samad Seyidov noted that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with France as part of its international relations. The parliaments of both countries will contribute to broadening of the cooperation. Ambroise Dupont during his 5 day visit has been to the center of the capital, walked in the suburbs and got closely acquainted with the achievements of the country. He says these changes indicate to Azerbaijan’s rapid development.
