Business meeting held with local businessmen in Baku

A business meeting with local entrepreneurs took place at Baku Business Center with the support of the Economic Development Ministry and Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation within the framework of the visit of the delegation led by President of the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank Andrey Kondakov to Azerbaijan.

 First, the delegation led by Andrey Kondakov, President of the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank, visited the tomb of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev in the Alley of Honor.  The guests also paid homage to memory of our fellow-countrymen who fell for Azerbaijan’s freedom and territorial integrity. They then enjoyed the view of the capital from the Alley of Martyrs. A business meeting at the Baku Business Center followed.  The main objective of the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank established in 1997 is to support economic development and regional cooperation by providing trade and project financing, guarantees, and equity for development projects supporting both public and private enterprises in its member countries. BSTDB President Andrey Kondakov said the visit had to goals. First is to discuss a new national strategy of Azerbaijani banks for the years 2011-2014. The second one is to carry on meetings with business circle chiefs with the view of financing projects for the next four years. President of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation Adil Mammadov noted that representatives of various sectors operating in Azerbaijan had been invited to the event. They have been given information on the existing projects during meetings with the bank’s representatives and they will discuss the possibilities of their financing in the future, Adil Mammadov said. During the business meeting, Head of the Administration of the Economic Development Ministry Samir Valiyev said Azerbaijan attached great importance to cooperation with international financial institutions, including the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank. He said the republic had 5% share in the bank’s core capital. Director of the Bank from Azerbaijan Mikail Jabbarov called on Azerbaijani businesspeople to build close cooperation with that prestigious financial institution. President of the Black Sea Trade and Development Bank Andrey Kondakov, bank officials Mustafa Boran, Nejdet Sarisoren and Yuri Shkurat made presentations about this financial establishment and potential cooperation opportunities. Note that the bank with Azerbaijan as one of the shareholders has implemented 225 projects in the country. Following screening of a film about our republic, President of the Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation Adil Mammadov and Executive Director of the Azerbaijan Investment Company Afgan Isayev gave detailed information about the country’s socio-economic development, existing potential opportunities and certain projects. Further, during the business meeting, local business people exchanged views with the representatives of the bank on cooperation opportunities.
