On October 23, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev talked on the phone to Nariman Hamidov, father of national hero Shukur Hamidov who has become a martyr in the battles for Gubadli.

The head of state extended condolences in connection with the death of Shukur Hamidov and noted that Shukur Hamidov had been awarded the title of the national hero for the bravery he demonstrated during the 2016 April battles and that the Azerbaijani President himself presented the hero star to him. The President underlined that this time, Shukur Hamidov became a martyr by heroically fighting for the liberation of Gubadli region. President Ilham Aliyev highlighted that the name of Shukur would be immortalized in Gubadli region where he was born and for the sake of which he had lost his life. 

Nariman Hamidov expressed gratitude to the head of state and noted that the Azerbaijani people had closely assembled around the Supreme Commander-in-Chief and expressed confidence that the people would further support the Azerbaijani President.

Recalling his meeting with Nariman Hamidov, President Ilham Aliyev thanked him for raising a courageous and patriotic son like Shukur and asked him to send his condolences to all the relatives of the Hamidovs.
