Nearly 24, 000 IDPs to be provided with apartments - Date announced

Works are carried out for the improvement of the living conditions of IDPs. Within this framework, along with Baku and Sumgayit cities, new settlements will be constructed in regions as well. The IDPs residing at 2 universities in the capital will be settled in the new residential complex.

Thus, the dormitories of Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University and Azerbaijan Technical University are located there. More than 1, 200 IDP families reside in these dormitories. They will be settled in the “Gobu Park-3” residential complex the construction of which will be completed in April of this year.

According to director of the student town of Azerbaijan Architecture and Construction University Tanriverdi Hajiyev, after IDPs are settled in the residential complex, the dormitories will be repaired: “Over 300 students, including the “Sabah” project, live in the student dormitory. After the IDPs are settled, those dormitories will be renovated by the university administration and commissioned for students.”   

The settlement process will not be limited by the IDPs residing in the university dormitories. In accordance with the “Roadmap” envisaging 2020-2024, the IDPs living in sanatorium, kindergarten, school, policlinic buildings will be relocated in newly established settlements.

Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Refugees and IDPs Rovshan Rzayev said that by the end of this year, settlements for 7, 000 families will be created: “We have launched the activity in this direction. The construction is already underway in Baku and Sumgayit. A settlement will be constructed in Samukh as well. Other regions will also be involved in our plans in the future.”

Thus, 23, 850 IDPs will be relocated in new settlements by the end of 2024.
