Specialization was expanded in general education institutions under Baku City Education Department in 2019. Classes with specialization already operate at more than 700 schools.

The main purpose of specialization is to ensure the improvement of knowledge and skills of pupils in their chosen fields.

Classes with specialization were first organized as a pilot project in Baku in 2011; later, its geography was expanded. Currently, these classes operate in 8 directions. 109 of them are technology, 55 mathematics-economics, 128 humanities, 9 nature oriented. Along with this, mixed classes also operate at schools. 85 of them are technology and math-economics, 142 technology and nature, 169 humanities and math-economics and 5 vocational oriented.

The experience shows that the support for pupils to train in a better direction is more beneficial both in our country, and in the world, because educating talented youth in the same class will help train them as real specialists in the future.

In accordance with the rules, the number of pupils in specialized classes is at least 20. Unlike other classes, longer subject hours have been determined due to the small number of subjects.

The number of specialized schools will be increased in order to improve knowledge and skills of pupils.
