Cars given to war and Chernobyl invalids

Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population has presented 50 more cars to the disabled people of the Second World War and Chernobyl Atomic Power Plant.

Addressing the event, director of the State Social Protection Fund under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population Himalay Mamishov noted that in 2019, revolutionary steps have been taken in the social sphere of the country. According to Himalay Mamishov, as a result of the two social reforms packages executed by President Ilham Aliyev, the minimum salary has grown by about 2 times, the minimum pension – by 72.4%, social benefits and scholarships – on average by 100%; the social package has helped improve the welfare of overall 4.2 million citizens.

He said that the payments to war invalids have significantly increased. According to him, benefits and pensions to citizens of this category and those, who became disabled as a result of their service at Chernobyl Atomic Power Plant, have grown by up to 2 times. He said that last year, 626 apartments were given to families of martyrs and war invalids, and in 2019, they have been given 934 apartments. So far, overall, 7, 169 families of martyrs and war invalids have been given apartments and private houses by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population.

It was stressed that the measures on providing those, who became disabled in wars, Janury 20th, Chernobyl, military service, with cars are strengthened every year. This year, approximately 500 cars have been given to them. So far, overall 6, 465 cars have been presented to citizens of this category.
