On December 6th, 650, 000 trees will be planted in Azerbaijan in one day. This ecological campaign is implemented at the initiative of First Vice-President of Azerbaijan Republic Mehriban Aliyeva on the occasion of the 650th anniversary of great Azerbaijani poet Imadaddin Nasimi.

The tree-planting campaign will envisage all the regions of the republic. The map featuring all the areas where trees would be planted has been prepared by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources. The areas in Azerbaijani regions, including Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, where trees would be planted, are featured on the map. During the campaign, about 50 kinds of trees will be planted in seedling farms. The majority of trees will be planted on the side of main roads.

The planting of 650, 000 trees will have a positive impact on the growth of trees in our country, reduction of the outcomes of climate change, prevention of carbon gas emission and salinization of soil.

The tree-planting campaign is aimed at the promotion of the poetry of great poet Imadaddin Nasimi on the international arena, immortalization of his memory and promotion of the literary and cultural heritage of Azerbaijan. Public figures, representatives of diplomatic corps and international organizations, as well as employees of state and private institutions and the staff of AzerTag will take part in the tree-planting ceremony.
