"The compulsory health insurance will be applied across the whole country by the end of 2020, but gradually. The gradual approach for the transition to the compulsory health insurance is considered more purposeful," said chairman of the State Agency for Compulsory Health Insurance Zaur Aliyev on the "Target" program of Azerbaijan Television.

"In the first quarter, health insurance rules will be applied in 20 regions. If we add 3 more regions – Aghdash, Mingachevir, Yevlakh, we can say that at the first stage, compulsory health insurance rules will be applied in 23 regions.

In the second quarter, since April 1st, 17 regions in the west will also join the process. Thus, from April 1st, compulsory health insurance will be applied in 40 regions of the country. At the third stage – 14 regions, and at the fourth stage, compulsory health insurance will be applied in Baku, Sumgayit and Absheron as well," Zaur Aliyev underlined.
