Azerbaijan Television has released the unique archival footages from famous Indian actor Raj Kapoor's first visit to Baku.

The footages posted on the "AzTV History" YouTube channel date back to 1956.

That year, the Festival of Indian Films was held in Baku. Indian actors were invited to Baku to participate in the Festival.

Along with Raj Kapoor, officials, directors, cameramen, as well as famous actress Nargis Dutt were in the delegation.

The archival footages demonstrate how the plane with Raj Kapoor and his friends landed at Baku Airport on November 3 and how they were warmly welcomed by the crowd.

People's Artist of Azerbaijan, Raj Kapoor's close friend Rashid Behbudov was also among that crowd. The footages reflect their sincere meeting.

The video also showcases the meeting between Raj Kapoor and Baku viewers at the "Nizami" Cinema, the city walk of Indian artists, as well as their visit to the Upland Park.

One of the most remarkable moments is that Indian artists went to Baku Stadium to watch football. It is noted in the video that that day, fans concentrated not on football, but on Raj Kapoor and his friends.

The footages also display how Raj Kapoor played the piano at the "Baku" Telestudio.

It is noteworthy that Raj Kapoor was born on December 14, 1924. Today, 97 years pass since his birth.
