Starting from the afternoon on July 12, 2020, the Armenian armed forces grossly violated ceasefire in the direction of Tovuz region on the Armenian-Azerbaijani state border and subjected the units of the Azerbaijani Army to fire. Afterwards, the enemy continued to shell our positions from large-caliber weapons and heavy artillery.

While retaliating to the enemy provocation, 12 servicemen of the Azerbaijani Army - general-major Polad Hashimov, colonel Ilgar Mirzayev, major Anar Novruzov, major Namig Ahmadov, ensign Yashar Babayev, ensign Ilgar Zeynalli, soldiers Elchin Mustafazade, Nazim Ismayilov, Vugar Sadigov, chief lieutenant Rashad Mahmudov, chief soldier Elshad Mammadov and soldier Khayyam Dashdamirov became martyrs. During the battles, the personnel of the Armenian army suffered heavy losses.
