Salary in Azerbaijan increases by more than two times in last 3 years

The works carried out for the increase of employment opportunities and the legalisation of labor relations have resulted in the 30%-rise of labor contracts in Azerbaijan. 

According to the PR and Communications Department of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population, the number of labor contracts has risen by 393, 000 in comparison with early 2018 and reached 1, 703, 249 as of January 1, 2021. The number of labor contracts in the private sector has increased by 63% and in the state sector by 10%. In 2020 alone, the number of labor contracts increased by 149, 000 or 10%. 

In the last 3 years, the minimum salary has risen twice and reached 250 AZN, and the median salary has increased by 66% and reached 343 AZN. 

In 2018-2020, the monthly salary fund increased by 81%. The increase made 87% in the private sector and 76% in the state sector. Besides, in 2020, the monthly salary fund rose by 12%. 

Throughout this period, the number of those provided with jobs by the State Employment Agency increased by 107% and reached 94, 000 in 2020; the number of those provided with public jobs rose by nearly 55 times and reached 48, 000. 

The number of those covered by the self-employment program has increased by 11 times, and in 2020, 12, 600 people were involved in this program.
