Initial archaeological exploration works and scientific research have been launched in order to determine the border and security zone of the "Beshbarmag Mountain" State Historical-Cultural and Natural Reserve and investigate from a scientific-archaeological point of view the cultural monuments and main cultural heritage objects mostly visited by tourists.

According to the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, a number of important scientific results have been achieved.

The main purpose of the scientific research conducted for the first time is to determine the architectural characteristics and period of the Beshbarmag Fortress and historical cemeteries, middle ages caravanserai, defense wall of the Sasanian period and prepare proposals for cultural touristic perspectives in the future.

As a result of the initial explorations, the locations of two out of the four towers of the Beshbarmag Fortress have been detected.
