"During the discussion, Emmanuel Macron touched upon a very fundamental issue. The President recalls international law. It is known that the lands occupied by Armenia are the Azerbaijani areas. International law also acknowledges it so. I consider that this is a just stance. Personally, I have always supported this position. However, the reality is that the French President has never publicly voiced such a stance. It was a lacking feature and created misunderstandings in the French policy. Nevertheless, now, it has happened. The President has stated it in front of the public. Afterwards, footages were shared," MP of the French National Assembly Jerome Lambert said on Azerbaijan Television's "Target" analytical program.

The MP noted that he was satisfied with the opinions of the French leader, because the President had demonstrated the stance based on international law. Regarding the recognition of the so-called "independence" of Nagorno-Karabakh at the French Senate, J.Lambert highlighted that these discussions did not mean anything: "Nagorno-Karabakh is the internationally recognized territory of Azerbaijan. The recognition of the so-called "independence" is not an issue connected with the decision of the French government and Senate. Some groups at the French National Assembly have also come forward with such resolutions. However, it does not have any significance. Even if the document is adopted, it will not have any legal basis. France will maintain its previous stance, as France's position is based on international law."

"Some political parties in France take over such pointless business under the influence of the Armenian community. I reiterate that such resolutions will be nothing more than satisfying the Armenian community. Such documents are ridiculous, because those documents do not have the power to determine who these areas belong to. Therefore, it will be nothing more than discussions," the MP of the French National Assembly underlined.
